Few students can say that they've had dinner with the president of their university and numerous other highly distinguished senior administration members. Thanks to Shucker, the fellows and I gained this unique privilege.
The evening began with the panel offering some advice and insight regarding topics ranging from what their passion is to favorite memories from their college days. It was so interesting to listen to their perspective on Furman because they are sharing our experiences, yet in a very different way. I also enjoyed hearing from the two panelists who attended Furman before they called it their workplace, as it seems that their time as students was not too different than ours is today.
Following the panel discussion portion of the evening, each senior administration member joined a table of fellows and Shucker graduates for dinner. At my table, I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Brad Pochard, director of admissions. It was fascinating to learn about his professional journey, and what ultimately lead him to Furman. Also, it is always a cherished time when I get to spend some time with the other Shucker fellows.
Overall, the evening was one that I will remember for years to come. And of course, it was a lovely treat to enjoy the delicious food and take a break from the beloved dining hall!
